Manchester City went into this game with superb confidence following their straight 16 wins in the Premier League, and they however continued with their impressive performance.
Leicester City had a superb chance to score the first goal in the 19th minute when Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho was set up by Okazaki, but the Super Eagles man was unable to beat Bravo in goal for Manchester City.
Manchester City scored their goal in the 26th minute when Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus supplied a powerful cross for Bernardo Silva to score as both sides went into the break with Pep Guardiola's men leading.
Leicester City tried all they could to restore parity in the second half, but they had to wait till the death before Jamie Vardy scored via a penalty to force the game to extra time.
Vardy was then the villain for Leicester City as he lost his kick for Manchester City to win 4-3 on penalties and qualify for the semi final.
