UNIBEN finally separates Mass Communication from Theatre Arts

After many years, the University of Benin has finally separated Mass Communication from Theatre Arts which formally formed one department.

Students studying Mass Communication in this department have been celebrating having confirmed the news from a statement released by their association President, Joseph Jegede, this afternoon.

According to a Mass Communication student, Ogbuware Gift," I am so happy has this happened during my time in UNIBEN. Now I can proudly say that I am a student of Mass Communication, University of Benin".

Read the statement released by the association President below.

DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION, Faculty of Arts, UNIBEN

We have waited long for this, since the inception of the Mass Communication programme at the University of Benin in 2008. We heard about the struggle, we came and met the struggle and we never kept quiet about the struggle.

The sight of freedom looming on the horizon encouraged us to redouble our efforts through prayers and incessant requests for this. The victory song eventually came July, 2017.

It is official, we present you the DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION, no more Department of Theatre Arts and Mass Communication in the University of Benin, Benin City.

So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolve to pitch in, work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other as students of the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Arts, University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State.

Congratulations to all
MACSANS
