The Students of the University of Benin who were told to vacate the hostels and campus yesterday after a senate emergency meeting held, have cried out that they do not have money to go back to their various homes, neither do they have where to stay in Benin having been told to leave the hostel.
This decision which was made after a Senate emergency meeting that was held yesterday which ended by 4PM was said to have been made for security reasons.
According to a source who preferred anonymity, the decision was as a result of the fact that the Students Union Government along with some other people yesterday stopped the institution's Chancellor, Lamido Sanusi from entering the school
Noblegblog, also gathered from another source that the decision was taken by the Senate to prevent the students from protesting because of the increment of hostel fees from #8,150 to #20,000 and school fees of the newly admitted students from #50,000 to #71,900.
Many students on campus have been left confused as they do not have money to travel back to their various homes and at the same time do not have where to stay after being told to vacate the hostels quickly.
Some students said that the Senates should have given them at least one week to leave the hostels rather than ordering them to leave within two hours.
