Rohr,Moses, Oshoala in CAF awards shortlist


Nigerian footballer Victor Moses has made the shortlist of 11 players for the 2017 African footballer of the year Award.

The 26 year old is expected to face stiff competition from the likes of Senegal’s Sadio Mane, Egypt’s Mohammed Salah and former winner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Meanwhile Eagles coach Gernort Rohr has been nominated in the coach of the year category.

The German is in a list of 5 which includes Camerooon’s AFCON winning coach, Hugo Broos and Egypt’s Hector Cuper.

The 63 year old has only lost one competitive match since taking over the team in August 2016.

He also led the team to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala is also in the Women’s player of the year category.

She is the current holder in that category.

The winners will be decided by votes from the members of the CAF Technical & Development Committee, CAF Media Experts Panel and Independent Media and TV Consultants.

Meanwhile, only members of the CAF Referees’ Committee will elect the Referee of the Year.

The Awards Gala will take place on Thursday, 4 January 2018 in Accra, Ghana.
