Nurse in court for drugging and raping patient in Lagos

– A nurse has been arraigned in Ikeja Magistrates’ court in Lagos
– He was accused of drugging and raping a patient
– The offence contravenes Section 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011
A 27-year-old male nurse, Olugbenga Isaac, was today, October 4, arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ court in Lagos.
According to The Nation, Isaac, a resident of Ajah area of Lagos is being tried for rape. He was accused of unlawfully having sexual intercourse with a 19-year-old girl who happens to be his patient.
The prosecutor in the case, Inspector Clifford Ogu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Thursday, September 15 at the Onipanu area of Lagos.
His words: “The accused had sexual intercourse with a woman without her consent.
“The complainant had toothache, she called the nurse to administer drugs on her, instead the accused injected her with some substance suspected to be sleeping injection.
“The complainant slept off and the accused raped her and left.
“The complainant regained consciousness after several hours and was bleeding from her private part, it was dawned on her that she had been raped.”
The offence contravenes Section 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Section 258 provides that if convicted of the offence, the accused is liable to life imprisonment.
The accused denied committing the offence, while the Magistrate, Mrs T. Akanni granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Wednesday, November 30 for mention.
